Will your move give me a lag look in my downswing too?

Yes as long as you move your lower body. If you fail to use the lower body then you will hit fat. You are talking a split second, event though you are releasing from the top, the real move happens below the waste.
If you move your body correctly the release will be more natural. How ever if you just throw or release from the top which frequently happens without moving your lower body you will have trouble. Sometimes too much emphasis is put on the action of the hands and NOT enough on the lower body, which to me is a big mistake.
Learn from the ground up, not from the top down
