Golf Tips
for
Women Golfers

Golf tips for women are essentially the same as for men golfers except that I will be focussing on providing online golf instruction video's featuring mainly women golfers.

Our first golf tip and video is of Karen practising the pitch shot. Notice how she cocks her wrist's first....this action of cocking the wrist's early is actually a very natural movement for most women golfers.

So our first action for your golf swing is to cock or set your wrists early. One of the best exercise's to help you with this action is to take the club to a 9 o'clock position. Pretend that there is a clock that is tilted from your shoulders down to the ground.....so basically what you are doing is taking your club up the clock face by cocking your wrist's under.

Watch Karen's video.....

Okay..... now that you have watched this online golf video on pitching I hope you grasp the importance of learning these little shot's first. Take the club to 9 o'clock by cocking your wrists and just release through impact.

Our second video feature's Rina who has justed started golf and has gone from a 36 handicap to a 30 in just 3 weeks. She has the potential to get her handicap down to the intermediate section (12-18) by the end of the season.

Her secret apart from her natural ability and your second golf tip is...... please find yourself a professional golf instructor and invest sometime and yes some money to at least learn the basics. I see so many women and men golfers floundering away at the driving range and getting frustrated with their attempt to make solid contact with the ball. It is far easier and quicker to get some golf tuition.....a bit like your personal fitness trainer really....you get result's based on focused action, effort and technique

Okay let's take a look at Rina's golf swing......

The importance of a good "Setup" position

  • Her feet are basically the same distance apart as her shoulders
  • Her hands are slightly ahead of the ball
  • She is in a well balanced position
  • Her left shoulder is slightly higher than her right shoulder

So Rina's set up is good.....but as you can see in her actually swing we have some work to do with her lower half.....the hips and especially the right knee are essential for good weight transfer. You will notice how flat footed she is. Even though she generates a lot of power and she still manages to hit a straight ball with this action she will eventually create problem's for her back.

I have put her video and my video together so you can compare how we use the lower half of our bodies. Please pause our golf swings and pay particular attention to the use of the HIPS and the RIGHT knee.

I hope you can see the importance of using the hips and knee's to make a very powerful and easy looking golf swing.

Let's recap on some of the golf tips for women golfers

  1. Use the 9 o'clock chipping and pitch drill
  2. Cock your wrist's first before swinging the club back
  3. Learn from a professional golf instructor
  4. Learn the correct set up position
  5. The importance of weight transfer using the hips and right knee.
