That’s about a 70% power ripped are going to release the club all the way through past the center to

saw that was that a good shot perfectly

a with the point of the letter a and the
crossbar centered if I put both hands on
the club so that there even the club
would have to be right under my nose but
that would eliminate the lead angle of
the shaft of the club so to get the lead
angle which is going to get the club in
line from the front with this arm we
need to let the shaft lean forward on
our wedges it goes between our feet my
weight now is evenly on both feet and if
I simply relax this knee and reach down
just enough to be able to get the right
hand that little two inches below that
this knee moves just a little bit and
that pushed me into a feeling of my hips
were just a tad open my knees are just a
tad open my feet are still square my
upper body remains square and now my
hand can grasp the club on the wet wedge
is there between your feet as the clubs
get longer that gets out therefore there
but the same exact motion Sakr seen from
the side both hands are on the club I
tilt forward from my hips I flex my
knees a little bit both knees now I need
to get this lead angle so I lean this
forward to my hip I keep my blade square
so that the lines are vertically now
that’s directly between my feet I cannot
reach I flex this knee a little bit down
and in front of the ball just enough to
let my hand get on and now you can see
my knees are slightly turned out my hips
are slightly turned out my chest is
still square this puts me into a
beautiful position to rebound into my
heel as I take the club away so that’s
very important another big important
part of how we get into our stance is
the fact of the tilt and how much do we
take we lean forward thirty degrees well
what’s thirty degrees pretty hard to
figure each time thinking degrees don’t
have a protractor
but you have a protractor in your mind
that’ll tell you between 12 o’clock and
3 o’clock that’s a 90-degree angle it’s
a right angle so if it’s 90 to 3 o’clock
then it’s 30 to 1 o’clock 60 to 2
o’clock and 90 to 3 o’clock so all we
have to do in our minds eye is see this
as the pin in the center 2 o’clock
tilt forward to 1 o’clock and you’ve got
your right chat you’ve got your right
right spine angle now there are going to
be people in this world who have really
short legs and really long upper bodies
what affected at all because you know
you’re still going to be tilting 30
degrees now if that means that your arms
can’t hang down straight that’s a good
thing because my arms angle out from my
body just a little bit because when you
come through on this golf swing there
must be room between your hands for your
knee and hip to pass through so that you
can hit this alongside of your body
today’s lesson is going to be about
tying the parts of the swing together so
that we’re going to take the pivot we’re
going to put it together with the arm
swing and in order to explain that to
you better I want to review some of the
things that go on in both halves of the
golf swing for the upper body motions in
the golf swing those are all learned
with the short game to set back up the
straight straight back up the club as if
it were against the wall the lines on
the face of the club should always
remain perpendicular to that wall the
way we attain that is simply by setting
the right wrist straight back to assist
that as we set the left wrist straight
back it’s as if we tuck the pinky
knuckle of the left hand a good way to
feel that and a good way to be able to
do that is to think in terms of your
golf club being a screwdriver and
there’s a big screw in the wall here
that has a vertical slot and I want to
feel like I’m slightly loosening that
screw by turning my pinky knuckle under
and if I do that at the same time that
this
hand sets back you get this motion and
as you can see the blade is still
vertical so I did it from where you
could see it I want to try and do that
so you can see it the blade remains
vertical if I take it back over any kind
of a straight line if I twist the screw
a little bit with my left hand and I set
my right wrist straight back it goes
back and straight up this is your eighth
shot takeaway position the shaft is
leaning forward and when I give it a
little twist and I set my right wrist
straight back it begins the bottom of
the conical action and that could be
seen if I release my wrist which I don’t
do for the most part in my golf shot
this way although they do release that
way kind of during an after impact on
the full swing but on this little short
game shot if I tuck my pinky knuckle and
set my right wrist straight back I
attain that position and you should see
this as the bottom of a conical action
seen from here if I saw a cone that was
vertical on the flightline then I could
take this club and keeping the handle of
the club in the same place I could keep
the toe of the club totally on that cone
and that’s why we use the bottom half of
the cone in our release my hands I like
to take the face of that golf club and
it’s my hands working what we call a
little bit of a conical action and by
that I mean when I take it away this
breaks a little bit under I like to
think that breaks under and when I come
through the shot it breaks a little bit
like that even though when I come
through it there’s a tremendous amount
of centrifugal force that’s actually
trying to close that blade but basically
if you took almost like an ice-cream
cone and this was the point of the
ice-cream cone the front part see it be
look a little bit like that as far as
this hand action is concerned just like
so
now we’ll stop seeing the cone when the
elbow gets involved which it does in the
quarter shop I still feel the tuck of my
pinky knuckle I still feel the setback
of my right hand but when I push down on
this heel pad over here to lever the
club up around this fulcrum here I
visual of the of the cone disappears but
the actual action of the club head does
not there would be my quarter shot
position I would swing the club up just
like that and as a review the back of
the shaft would always stay on the glass
as if there was a pin through it would
swing around to that motion over there
that’s your quarter shot your 3a shot
from your quarters up position without
the chest moving the arms move to the
side of the body
that’s a shoulder blade movement
shoulder blade movement beyond this
position we step to the right foot this
is a half shot position beyond that
there’s more wind up of the back and
more follow-through the half shot will
be very vital in what we’re going to be
doing in building our golf swing we’re
going to hit some half shots quite a few
of them as a matter of fact as we learn
this now our pivot uses our spine as an
axle and a lever and for it to work as a
lever it needs to work this way to work
as an axle and naturally it wine some so
if I simply reverse the actions of my
knees right knee back left knee forward
my axle moves and I don’t get a big look
like this I’m not trying to pull that
hip way out there although if I were
trying for the absolute maximum powered
drive I would try to get a really good
deep weight shift that would get this
shoulder down low so that I could use it
to drive it up with this leg
standard golf shot all you really want
to do is shift your weight to your right
foot just by flexing one knee and
straightening the other basically when
you’re doing that you’re creating a post
on that post the body turns in behind
the ball coming through the golf swing
this heel goes down
that one comes up body moves laterally
hips open naturally simply because the
knees turn them upper body stays to the
right leg rotates out and you put back
in during that action you put back in
all of the motions that your arms did in
your half shot motion the key to really
developing a super golf swing is first
to develop your short game and we’ll
talk later about that when we start
talking about how to use the swing in
play we first want to develop the short
game motions so that we know what it is
to feel with the hands tuck this hand
back we know how to use the
straightening of the right arm
and finally the straightening of the
right hand we know how to let the club
release we know what the elbows do they
must do the reverse on both sides of the
swing the 3a shot is going to train us
to keep the arms back while the body
pivots the half shot is going to train
us to use the spine as a lever and then
as an axle and during those times we’re
going to be putting back everything we
took out of the golf swing as we go back
the half shot is the real secret to
everything the half shot incorporates
the weight shift it incorporates getting
on the post and turning it teaches you
how to get to the wig on the
backside it teaches you how to get your
arms and everything into the right
position because the half shot contains
the three a shot shoulder motion the
quarter shot hands an arm motion and the
a shot wrist set we want to hit
thousands of these shots from here to
here because it really grooves what goes
on it impact whether it’s a full driver
or a half a sandwich motions go on
through impact
we get to the club bowl at our hands
well ahead club face facing down the
line full release the half shot contains
all of the motions that we need in the
full shot to make shots bigger than a
half shot once we get to our half shot
we simply incrementally take the club
away fourth now once we’ve taken the
club beyond the half shot it is vital
that we pass through the half shot
position on our way back to the ball all
good players for the most part unless
those unusually blessed with great body
knowledge for feeling of where the ball
is going generally we’ll have some kind
of an intermediate target between where
their ball is and where they want it to
go in other words if I was just putting
here and I had a putt of say 8 feet
rather than try to line up the hole 8
foot putt I just find something on my
line here and I line up to that and it
pretty much takes care of my alignment
out there Jack Nicklaus a profess the
taking finding something on the ground
in front of your ball between you and
the target that assists you in lining up
a very important point so that’s that’s
an intermediate target for the ball to
go over now I like to think of the half
shot position here as an intermediate
target between the top of the golf swing
and the half shot this if we can get to
this we’re on the right path we’re on
the right plane we’re traveling in the
right manner and we’re going to hit that
ball much more savvy because one of the
biggest keys and the errors that we can
make is to not be on the right path and
when you’re not on the right path you’re
not on the right plane the path and the
plane are virtually the same thing if
you can get your club traveling on path
you will also be on plane if you’re not
on plane you’re not on path if you’re
not on path you’re not on plane so it is
possible to swing down the correct path
from the wrong plane but it’s something
that shouldn’t happen in our golf for me
because we always do
we take our club head away the only
thing that’s ever really on the swing
plane is the sweet spot of our club and
it remains there it goes on playing up
to the top of the swing it remains on
plane so if we can control by our pivot
where our hands go and learn how to
return our hands to where they are on
the half shot position so if I made a
half swing without a club you would see
that I’d be about here if I make the
swing bigger than that I wind up a bit
more and I get up there I must get here
I want you to see what’s happening with
my hips when I make that movement and
I’ll do it with a club when it’s first
swing in my half shot position eighth
quarter shot three a shot half shot you
see my hands are here and right now if
you were standing in the right place you
would see that my club is traveling at
about a 45 or 30 or 40 degree angle out
that way to the right of where I’m
trying to hit it I swing up to that
position I’m right here now beyond this
I can go as far as I want or as little
as I want depending on how far I want to
hit the ball if I go to my full top of
my backswing position and I can get to
this place and look how I did that I
slammed this heel down this one began to
come up my hip move laterally sideways I
made no attempt to turn here I kept my
chest wound to the right of my hips so
that the amount that my knees move is
the amount my hips move and it’s also
the amount my chest moves that’s
critical to be here if I let myself get
turn I’m going to alter my path to the
ball and off a hard time hitting the
ball so the goal of the lesson today for
the most part is to learn what the half
shot is and use it to tie the two halves
of the golf swing together we’ll deal
with making more power and a lot of
other things in future lessons but this
is the real key to getting the half shot
into your full shot now your half shot
with your sandwich
I personally hit a sandwich 100 yards
maximum I don’t try to hit it any harder
than that although I can
so my half shot should go about fifty
yards I would suggest that you always
caress your wedges you don’t try to
crush them unless there’s some obstacle
between you and where you’re going that
you absolutely need the kind of loft
that you’d get out of a shorter Club
it’s always easier to make a longer Club
with a with a smoother swing so most
people learn when you’re playing short
game shots they’re they’re going over
some imaginary obstacle there’s there’s
no reason to go way up in the air if
you’re only trying to go 50 yards so
when we come into our half swing shot we
shift our weight we hit it with the
right hand right from the top but when
we get to the ball we want to have our
hands well ahead of the club head as you
can see I my hips it brought me to here
I’m Willa headed to club head see my
hands are way over here
Club heads way back there and if I hit
it with my right hand I’m going to get a
very low trajectory golf shot as the
speed picks up even though I’m trying to
get my hands to over there the club head
will pull the centrifugal force and
gravity will pull it down I can’t really
keep it up and my hands won’t quite be
as far forward but I’m always trying to
get my hands to a point about there so
that if my release were to happen from
here then I would complete my release
there and continue in order to get the
hands that far forward it means that the
hips had to do it because this handle
stop when that club head gets pulled
down if it’s just my shoulders and arms
pulling it it’s very hard for me to pull
my hands past very fast just my
shoulders and also pulling it wants to
release on me but if my body is moving
my left arm I can keep that back there
so to tie the two halves of the swing
together I want you to start by hitting
your nice eight shots your nice quarter
shots be when you’re happy with your
hitting your quarter shot about 25 yards
and it’s going to your target time after
time after time you know you got it then
the next thing you’re going to do is
from your quarter shot you’re simply
going to use your shoulder blades going
to get you about thirty degrees to the
line of flight at this point right here
all I have to do is turn my heel out and
you can see how my left hand came right
back to the ball
do it facing the camera when I make my
three a shot movement which is there all
I need to do to get this hand back there
I’m not turning my chest that stands to
the right of my hips I’m not moving my
shoulder all I’m really doing here is
turning on this post which I’m already
on by turning the heel out that squares
me right there
I made no effort for this to catch this
my hips always stayed ahead of my
shoulders
so once you’ve attained that and you got
your three eight shots going good and
solid and you’re hitting them you don’t
ever want to let your weight go on your
right foot on your 3a shot the reason we
don’t want it our weight to go on the
right foot and the 3a shot is if I’m
back this far I’ve lost my wife if I’m
on that foot because my body’s gone
farther than it should have for one
thing for the other thing I was going to
be very difficult for me to get back to
my left foot in time it’s also not going
to allow me to use my right knee to turn
the post you see if I’m on the post and
everything’s wound up over here and I’m
on this post then it’s very easy for
that foot movement to bring this hand
but if I’m on this foot that means some
slack has developed in my golf swing and
now I could move my foot my hand could
actually not move at all it would but it
wouldn’t have as much power so we’re
looking to keep that nice wine so let’s
assume that we’ve gotten our three a
shot working good because we’re staying
on our left leg and we’re turning and
this is a drill that I would like you to
do a little bit of while you’re watching
this you can just stand up and face the
camera I’m going to do this left hand so
that you can see it
if I swing up to my quarter shop mirror
this by standing just as I am now if I
push my arm
following my thumbs by moving my
shoulder blades not my chest I would
obtain that position from here to get
this hand back to the pole all I need to
do is that so I’d like you to do that
I’d like you to take and swing your club
up to your quarter shot position push it
over till you’re bloodier clubs almost
point at the ball pointing out there
about thirty forty degrees to the right
and bring it back by using your lifting
up of your heel and turning in the near
round till it just about touches this
knee it should look like this
yes just let the club swing on that side
so I can’t talk too much about these
shots and generally when people come to
me they come to learn how to hit it
farther but my goal is a teacher is not
just as she’s you had to hit it farther
unless that’s your only goal if that’s
your only goal is to hit it farther well
then I can teach you how to increase
your power but what good is increasing
your power if you don’t hit the ball
square
what good is increasing your power if
you don’t have the club on the right
path what’s good is increasing your
power if you don’t have the club on the
right plane what good is increasing your
power if it’s wasted because we didn’t
really compress the ball so I I make
everybody learn these short game shots
and because we start with these short
game shots the full swing becomes
exceedingly easy to learn if you get out
here with the driver in your hand and
you start trying to wail away and wonder
why you don’t have a golf swing it isn’t
because I’m not giving you the good
information it’s because you’re not
using it correctly
so what we’re looking for in our golf
swing here when we start making our
practice sessions we want to go back to
our half swing position and we want to
hits us from there should be nothing
that feels difficult about this
shift it I want to make sure that you
always keep in mind that the hands are
releasing under you think we obtain this
at impact
there’s impact but my hands not doing
that my elbow has straightened at this
point my hand throws through said that
my for release is there Clips pointing
back at my belly button it’s very
important to get this impact idea of
hitting through to they’re put through
there and then just release everything
so the tide of two halves of the golf
swing together we want to do this motion
half swing shots when you can hit your
half swing consistently time after time
directly on line about 50 yards and you
basically have a pretty good golf swing
now some of you were going to only be
able to hit at 40 yards with your half
swing and others are going to hit it 60
yards with your gospel with your half
swing but it should be half of the
distance that you would normally hit the
ball so when you’re hitting your half
swing time after time perfectly so that
the ball is hit good and crisply and the
ball is flying the distance you want on
the line that you want then you have to
realize that the actual hitting area is
taken care of you’ve got that in your
golf swing now to be able to hit the
ball longer and harder and farther than
that will never do it if we can’t get to
the half swing position if we miss the
half swing position there’s a very good
chance that our so he’s going to look
something like that
going to come out here a lot of people
when they’re trying to get to their half
swing position make this mistake they
stay on the right foot now you haven’t
gotten your axle to work as a lever what
you’ve done here is you’ve spun the hips
we call this spinning out I’m turning on
this post and what that does watch what
it does to the whole upper body it makes
it extremely difficult to come down this
inside track because my body is turning
toward the target makes it very easy to
come down the inside track if ice
please step and from here it’s easy to
hit the ball so the things you want to
guard against is turning on the right
foot by putting the heel down the club
is outside and around you go my
suggestion to you to build the swing is
this once you’re hitting a lot of these
say eight or ten or twelve or fifteen or
goodly number of half shots perfectly
find your half shot position go a little
bit away less my hands have only moved a
small amount in that I went to here I’m
in my half shot position I push it away
a little bit my hands didn’t go very far
with the club which is a longer lever it
went farther and now I want to focus on
this I want to get here
and I want to get here caused by what
happened down here I want you to see
closely how I do that I’m here watch see
that
my sighting latterly making no attempt
to turn my hips maybe you know what’s
have to turn my chest making no attempt
to turn at all putting that heel down
squared this up when this heel came up
it put it to that position so if I’m
back here and I make this mistake I’m
out no chance of getting down the right
path I’m here both heels work together
that’s what you’re gonna be doing we’re
going to be making this little lateral
shift boom boom and this is going to
control your path boom time after time
path now the turn is the right leg and
foot there’s your turn now people often
say to me well where do I start hitting
I’m hitting this golf shot where do I
start hitting well I start hitting from
however far back the club is but I hit
with the pieces in the reverse order
that I use them going back so if the
first thing I move was this that’s going
to be the last thing I move that means
that I have to get from however far back
I am all the way to the ball with that
not having changed okay the next thing
that I moved after that was what it was
the right elbows shortening and the left
armor turning
so when I come back to the ball before I
can use this I must arrive here looking
like this to be able to do what
straighten the right arm out and then
finally use my right hand in that kind
of a flipping motion the third thing
that I did was I turned my shoulder
blades without turning my chest now that
doesn’t change I don’t and one of the
few things that I don’t do on the
downswing that I do on the backswing
once I’ve got this out I’ve got the
slack out my chest is facing you my
shoulders move and now there’s no slack
between my shoulders and my hips so
anything my hips do my shoulders do if
we make the mistake in the downswing of
letting the shoulders move well
basically we’ve gone wild
the left arm will stay in the number
seven position beyond that it’s a weight
shift okay
beyond that naturally the thumbs
continue to go away as I continue to
turn my body and why my forearms to get
the club following my thumb and so in my
downswing when do I start hitting with
the right arm well if it’s a quarter
shot my right arm works from here right
to that ball and threw that ball by
letting this wrist give at this point
and letting the elbow give I get to
there I use the right arm hard from
right there all the way through if it’s
a 3/8 shot I’d use my right arm it would
look like that
if I didn’t turn my hip in which case it
looks like that I’m using the right arm
in my half shot three-eighths half I’m
going to use the right arm because it’s
in the same place as it is here but my
hips are bringing my left hand and my
rotation is bringing my left hand and if
I start using my right hand from right
here I get there right on time from here
I shift my way I’m hitting already but
I’m not hitting that way I’m hitting
that way
notice my left arm not move but my can
see my elbow get close to it this
remains in the same position that it was
there but I straightened my right arm
just as my hip goes through after I hit
the ball my left wrist gives down right
hand hits on through that position of
left hand would look like that now
people say to me well why don’t I just
hit to there and roll over well you
could if you could time that perfectly
but now what you’d be doing if you did
that is you’d be having like the bottom
half of the cone over here try to put
top half of it in over there your your
main kind of an S bend to your club
whereas if I come this way and I extend
through my club will travel down that
flight line a lot longer coming into the
ball like this I’m there you can see my
flight my my club down that flight line
is really a long time versus if I came
down here like this and then I tried
turning it over it would go back inside
very rapidly and when you are turning
over there’s your chance for a hook so
basically that’s how we tied the two
halves of the golf swing together know
what errors could happen in there well
there’s a lot of them we need to know
what they are
if we don’t shift our weight at the
right time it’d be very hard for us to
get the shoulders wound
if we don’t set our hands fully back and
a lot of people do this they said they
think they got a set they really have to
move very much the twisting of this
wrist this way I want you to see what
happens here twisted that way and this
area is very flat but that’s kind of
curved around I can’t see those two
knuckles I can see these two when I’m
here it’s the same thing I can see these
two knuckles but I can’t see those two
so if I held my wristwatch real still by
holding this arm and I kind of twisted
this shaft now my hand really hasn’t
changed very much I still pretty close
to flat right here so if you don’t get
the full set of your hands and you can’t
use your hands fully from there a lot of
people swing the club up and they stop
with it there well if I’m there then I
haven’t got the full angle set and
naturally if I haven’t got the full
angle set then I can’t use the full
angle when they push their shoulder
blades to the right instead of pushing
them as far as they can push them they
push them away and now they don’t get
the feeling of tension that I have here
I need this feeling of tension to be
able to get all the slack out so that
any motion in my heel is immediately a
motion in my hand which means it’s
immediately a motion of the club head we
need to have that slack out of the golf
swing the other thing that people tend
to do is get through a really beautiful
top of the backswing position for your
half shot and from here just pull the
hands to the bowl without swinging the
club head if the right arm does not
extend the club head does not begin the
Cornucopia move out at the right time
and in the right place I could hit it’s
in not hit the ball at all you got to
hit with that right arm if you don’t hit
with it you can’t hit the ball hard you
can hit the ball but you can’t hit it
hard so in order to keep from having to
make a really really rapid body motion
what we’re trying to do here is have a
really rapid club head acceleration
through the ball when we hit it and
that’s how we tied the top and the
bottom half of the golf swing together
if we make the mistake at the top of the
backswing of turning on the right leg
we’re
doing clubs over-the-top no chance if I
shift my weight I won’t go over the top
if I keep my upper body to the right of
my hips and when I turn my heel out I’ll
be Square to it with my chest but I’ll
be hitting the ball kind of off the side
of my Lodge pocket you want to feel sort
of like you’re throwing something heavy
when I was a young boy it’s kind of a
poor kid we lived right near a railroad
tracks to make a few dollars on the
weekends we do whatever kind of work we
could do to earn a few bucks and one day
this farmer came and they were in New
Jersey where I lived it’s called the
Garden State and this farmer had rented
a boxcar that he was going to put three
tractor-trailer trucks full of
watermelons in and that and he showed up
with three people who were driving the
trailer and himself driving a pickup
truck and since they had load the three
trailers in one day off of his loading
dock he thought it would be a very
simple job to do the same thing the next
day by putting the watermelons into the
Train except that the train was about
that high off the ground because the
song it’s already higher than a truck to
start out with but it’s also up on a
gravel road bit so it’s quite a bit
higher and the truck bed was down here
and they couldn’t very well walk in
there and carry the watermelons so it
became a job of handing the watermelons
up and the farmer after a few minutes
realized that there was no way he was
going to be able to finish that loading
of those three trailers in there with
the people that he had so he hired
myself and two of my buddies to help him
load the watermelons well at first it
was kind of easy you just hand the
watermelon cause you’re in the back of
the truck and you hand it up to the guy
who was in the train and he passed a
bucket brigade fashioned down in the
last guide stacking but as we got
farther and farther back into the truck
that we were entering into the Train
then we’d have to fer at first get it
and walk up there and give it and after
a while we decided was a better idea
that we tossed these watermelons to each
other so we developed kind of a bucket
brigade where each person would throw
the watermelons about six or eight feet
and as that went farther back into the
the car it became pretty darn hard to do
because you had this roller farther but
I can tell you one thing if you’ve ever
thrown any mortar melons
you’re not gonna do it with your arms
you try to throw watermelons with your
arms yo throw maybe if you’re a really
strong guy you may throw 50 of them or
100 but you’ll be done you want to throw
a lot of watermelons and we had a whole
lot of watermelons you get the feeling
of using your kind of your whole body
your legs and your whole body to throw
these water mounts and that’s what we’re
doing in this golf swing when we come
through that ball we want to get this
feeling of rolling a watermelon we’re
gonna use our legs to throw it if this
arm stays back and this arms on the back
of the watermelon when we come here we
could just do it this way but see we’re
doing in a circle we’re turning a little
bit so it’s like we picked up a
watermelon off of a shelf over here
which is the half shot position and we
went right down to where the ball would
be and we threw it to that person which
is right out in front of us then we
continued to turn the left and your arms
go over there this motion is very much
like a heave and see from behind it
looks like this got a hold of that
watermelon I take it back about to my
half shot hand position I step laterally
I give it a heave off the side of my hip
then I continue my turn and that’s
exactly what the body motion is in the
golf shot it’s a heave it’s like my arms
are traveling only because my body

it go and just like you do with a
watermelon no one would ever throw a
watermelon like this my right arms
behind my left arms in front I come
through here and I just let it go watch
my hands I’m here I just let it go if
you see it from the front I arrive at
the ball with back of my hand facing
where I wanted to go palm facing where I
want it to go from here my arms just
swing up
and if I do it with a golf club and make
that heating motion I’m coming from
inside down the line right arm hits
through and end up like that very
important part thing to notice about
this golf swing is that my right hands
below the left and therefore it’s
farther from my swing circle centered on
my left hand is my left arm is straight
and my right arm is bent the only way I
can do that is to tilt my shoulders a
little bit so my shoulders must be at a
bit of a tilt at address now from here
my right hand will always stay farther
from me than my left hand
as you can see here they’re both about
the same business from me but I get the
feeling that my right hand is farther
than my left hand is and now I come down
through here my right hand is farther
than my left hand my right hands farther
than my left hand my right hands farther
than my left hand my right hands farther
than my left hand my right hand always
is farther than my left hand so if I get
this idea of when I come over here I try
to pull the right hand inside the left
hand I made a big mistake
no over there I try to get my right hand
back inside my left I made a big mistake
that has to do what the body stops now
if I twist this hand under a little bit
and I get this kind of just a tiny hair
passed flat position here with that
tucked extremely hard to lift my thumb
it doesn’t want to go up that’s how body
stop another body stop is setting the
right wrist all the way back it doesn’t
go any farther than that as far as it
goes
we have several others we use in a golf
swing if I take my right arm and I swing
it back I can only get it to 90 degrees
to my body that’s a body stuff I can
never get it farther than that if I take
my forearm like this and like a homo
upper arm still and I tried to punch
somebody in the face behind me that’s a
body stop that’s as far as I can go
that’s a very important body stop that
we use in the full swing when I come
around here I feel like my right arms
going to the right away from my body in
the arc that my left arm is traveling on
at the same time I feel like I’m trying
to take my knuckles like I’m trying to
punch somebody in the face standing
behind me boom I add that to the winding
up of the hands and as you can see the
club goes right down the perfect path
again ride up the perfect plane by
laterally shift I’ve started to my half
shot position I make my half shot and
all I have is a little bit more left
over a little more backswing if you
really want to get your golf swing
together in a big hurry you’re gonna
make half shots and then you’re going to
learn how to put a little more backswing
and a little more follow-through and
only when you do it that way will you
ever be able to build this rapidly now
the mistake people tend to make is when
they get
or harder shots longer clubs and things
they equate body power and speed to how
far the ball goes and well yes a little
bit more power and a little more speed
yeah we’ll make the ball go farther and
it will not if somewhere into start down
in this golf swing that you’ve got out
of position as soon as you’re outside
over here you’re doomed you’re going to
come across the ball down there no
matter what you do so there’s a little
thing that I that I use when I teach
children and I don’t teach very many
children I prefer to work with better
players and that is I like to tell them
okay here’s the ball and that’s where
you live that’s your home that’s your
house and over here in front of your
house your street continues to go down
this way this is the street that runs by
your house let’s say your house is right
there but directly in front of your
house is a freeway on-ramp that kind of
goes up at a bit of an angle out from
the street that you live on and your
school that you go to is right over here
somewhere and there’s a policeman always
there with a radar gun so you never want
to speed in the school zone when you
take your backswing you go past your
school and at the top of your swing I
like to call out the gas station where
we fill up and we get all of our power
now in order to hit the half swing
position over here you kind of got to
get your hands through the school and we
know there’s a cop with a radar gun so
we don’t want to be in too big of a
hurry from there to here because we’re
going to get a ticket now from here that
lets the body shift and bring the hands
right through the half swing position
then as the right arm straightens and
the hips turn you in you’re at your
house the club has to feel like it
swings a little bit up and out because
the body is turning and if it doesn’t
have that feeling then the swing
inevitably will go this way inside
you always have to feel like you’re
swinging a bit up and out to complete
your golf swing children seem to respond
to that really well I swing up past my
school I go to the gas station
I passed my school going fairly slowly
here comes my house I sell right onto
the
every way and I end up at Grandma’s
house which is up there so there’s no
way I would go past the school really
quickly and stop right here I want to go
all the way to Grandma’s house so view
children respond to that pretty one I
